Coming to Pie Cottage for an Art of the Pie® In-Person Day Camp?

Pie Cottage is in Port Angeles, WA on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula. Nestled on the Strait of Juan de Fuca with Olympic National Park right in its "backyard", Port Angeles is approximately 2.5 hours northwest from the Seattle Area. It is also a 90-minute ferry crossing (car and/or passenger) from Victoria, British Columbia. The Pacific Ocean is an eighty minute drive and beautiful vistas are everywhere. Port Angeles itself is fairly small and driving distance between most everything is about 5-10 minutes.

HOW DO I GET TO PORT ANGELES?

Driving

From Seattle
via Washington State Ferry to Bainbridge Island

Depart the ferry merging onto HWY 305, follow to HWY 3 to the Hood Canal Bridge. Take a left onto the bridge and follow HWY 104, then merge onto HWY 101. Continue through Sequim to Port Angeles.
Approximate Travel Time: 2 hours 45 minutes.

Ferry Schedule: Seattle/Bainbridge

From Seattle
via Washington State Ferry to Edmonds

Depart the ferry and follow signs to the Hood Canal Bridge. Take a right onto the bridge and follow HWY 104, then merge onto HWY 101. Continue through Sequim to Port Angeles.
Approximate Travel Time: 2 hours 30 minutes

Ferry Schedule: Edmonds/Kingston

From SeaTac Airport

Take Interstate 5 south to the Bremerton Exit (highway 16 North) through Bremerton; past Bremerton take highway 3 to 104 to 101 around Sequim. Port Angeles is 15 miles west of Sequim on highway 101.
Approximate Travel Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes

From Olympia and Oregon

Take US 101 northbound along the western shore of Hood Canal. From Olympia via Aberdeen/Hoquiam: take US 101 northbound. This is a longer scenic route that includes the Pacific coastline and parts of Olympic National Park.

From Bellingham and Vancouver, BC

Take the Washington State ferry from Keystone (on Whidbey Island north of Seattle) to Port Townsend. Ferry reservations can be made through the WA Department of Transportation.

Charters and Bus

Clallam Transit System – "The Straight Shot" Rte 123 offers daily direct bus service between Port Angeles and the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal. $10 cash only/each way.

Dungeness Line – offers bus service to and from SeaTac, Seattle, Edmonds/Kingston, and Port Townsend.

Rocket Transportation – service from SeaTac airport and custom charters.

Air Travel

To SeaTac Airport

Travel by air to SeaTac (Seattle) Airport, rent a car and drive to the Peninsula. Driving directions. Or take one of the above bus services.

To Port Angeles

The William R. Fairchild International Airport is on the west side of Port Angeles. You can charter a flight from Rite Bros. Aviation for personalized, private flight service.

To/From Victoria, British Columbia

Who is Kate?

I’m the creator of Art of the Pie® and Pie Camp®. Since 2008 I have taught pie making both in-person and virtually to over 7,000 pie campers across North America and authored three books, Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Homemade Crusts, Fillings, and Life (2016), Home Cooking with Kate McDermott (2018), Pie Camp: The Skills You Need to Make Any Pie You want (2020). In 2017 I received a James Beard Award Nomination for Art of the Pie!

Due to the unique preparations for Art of the Pie® Day Camp there are no refunds. This time is booked and reserved for you. If you are unable to come, you may transfer your place at the baking counter to another of your choice.
