About Kate McDermott’s Newsletter
WHO:
I am a storyteller, musician, culinary teacher, and late blooming published author who seems to have a better track record with dogs than wuzbands. I have written three best selling and critically acclaimed cookbooks with personal narrative essays; James Beard Nominated Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Crusts, Fillings and Life (2016), Home Cooking with Kate McDermott (2018), and Pie Camp: The Skills You Need to Make Any Pie You Want (2020). I teach baking workshops, coach and mentor writers and teachers, and Substack newbies.
WHAT:
This newsletter is about much more than pie. I write of my thoughts, my walks, rides on Arrow my ebike, my garden, apple orchard, books I’m reading, music I’m listening to, recipes to cook and bake, thoughts about aging gracefully. I try to keep my newsletter issues shortish for a quick break in your day.
WHEN:
I post once a week and there may be occasional additional posts, too!
WHERE:
As a subscriber, my newsletter posts will pop right into your email Inbox and you will also find a full archive of past newsletters online. You can also receive them via the Substack app for your phone.
WHY:
As an elder-crone-wise woman, or whatever you want to call one who has stopped caring about wrinkles and silver hair, I feel it is important to pass on as much as I can about what I have learned and what I care about.
YOUR INVITATION:
We are becoming quite a lovely community through this newsletter and I invite you to join me on this journey because the hokey-pokey just might be what’s it’s all about.
