# 344: For Everything There is a Season
Some words from old notebooks that seem timely today.
I have piles of notebooks with decades of writing inside them. Over the years, I move them from place to place to place. I place them inside a box that I carry up to the attic, set on a shelf and mostly forget about because I’m busy with now.
Today I dig into the box and read an entry from 2004…
I am looking at a sampler on eBay but $70 is so much to spend right now. I must weigh want with need. This is not food in the sense of physical nourishment but something that provides me with spiritual and emotional nourishment.
Years ago when I had little money I bought D a whimsical tea set. It cost $20 which was just about everything I had at the time. We had many good times playing tea party and then passed it on to another family to enjoy. The tea set was worth everything I paid for it. We survived.
For everything there is a season…A time to love, to be rich, poor, happy, sad, afraid, strong, weak, angry, generous, gracious, practical, impractical, silly…and whimsical, too.
Did I buy the sampler? Yes, I did…
And I survived.
I must believe that we will survive these times, too.

Sometimes we just need food for the soul...especially in times like now.
That is a beautiful treasure!
