Wintertime is the quiet time…a season of reflection, rest and replenshing, dreams and planning.
Some things I love most about it are…
Sunrises that break the long nights
Flames in the woodstove and GP’s sighs as she snoozes in front of it
Candles burning on the mantel
Curling up on the couch with good books and a blanket
Sun-break walks and snow covered mountains
Making garden plans for spring planting
Simmering soups and stews, and chicken pot pies
Hot cocoa
What about you? What do you love most about wintertime?
Watch for a special guest post newsletter on National Pie Day this coming Sunday, January 23.
For paid subscribers, next week I’ll be sharing my favorite hot cocoa recipe.
Wrapping up in a cozy blanket on the couch and reading a book, while the wood stove crackles and something yummy simmers in the kitchen. Heaven.
Yes yes yes!
Baking bread, a slower pace, turning inward, being cozy.
Winter is most definitely the cozy season.
I ski. A downhill skier for sixty years. Today it was -12 when we woke up.!
brrrrr... It's a balmy 39F here.
I love flannel pj's, a cup of tea, a good book (preferably a 1930's mystery and a snuggling cat! I am now in southern California, but when I lived in the Midwest, I loved hearing the crunch of snow while walking on it.
Oh, I love that sound too, and the still silence after it falls.
Beautiful thoughts
Thanks Rick! Hoping to see you both on this side of the Strait before the daffodils bloom.
I like swimming in the sea in the wintertime! It’s really lovely and not as cold as you might think! A wetsuit keeps me pretty warm.
You are a brave woman!
