It’s been a long and quiet nearly two weeks at Pie Cottage, and my son is finally coming out of quarantine today! Even before his symptoms were confirmed by a positive COVID test, we (he, his sweetie, and me) isolated to different parts of the property here. We are very lucky that there are three separate structures—two homes right next door to each other, and a very small quasi guest house—so each of us had our own safe space. His sweetie and I tested negative, but to be extra cautious we have kept our distance, too.
Topping that off, there has been snow, snow, snow and low temps so going much of anywhere, even to the store in my two-wheel-drive car or by foot, hasn’t been safe because of the icy conditions. I’ve have kept myself busy with books, binge watching a few series, and delivering meals to the porch of the little guest house where my son has been sequestered.
Yesterday, I was loaned some YakTrax to put on the soles of my boots and set out for a short test walk. Wow! What a difference! No slipping at all. So Greta and I are ready to resume our daily walks on the bluff again. But before we do, this morning our little family will enjoy some in person time with a meal and a belated Christmas.
It is times like these that help me to remember that time spent together is the biggest gift we have and one I do not take for granted.
Amen! Awomen! A life of gratitude for whatever comes. 💖💖💖💖
Same here, friend--and wish I could be around to make a pie cooking snow lady with you
