Ah, Kate, it's SOOO true! Unfortunately the things we all learn best are the lessons we try and fail at (sometimes multiple times, too)! But those are also the times when the "Ah, hah!" sticks best, our view of things grows wider for better or worse, and we grow. It would REALLY be nice to not bump our noses quite so hard against experience, but~! Gosh, climbing an avocado tree - haven't seen one that big since a long ago trip to HI and the neighbor's backyard had one that seemed to reach to the sky. That was quite something to see. (I understand it was also quite something to be underneath it in a severe storm when the avocadoes would rain down like bombs, too)
I like the "one step closer to happiness". Much better to focus on.
