For now, I buy scapes from the farmers' market (or will soon( , but I need to plant garlic, obvs! What a great idea to make scape pesto, Kate. My basil plants are thriving in Wisconsin, so just made boiled potatoes tossed in plain ol' pesto. Now I need to make this!

Do you make garlic braids? GP was such a lovely girl. Her sweet spirit lives on! ❤️

I used to when I grew soft neck varieties but not with hardneck.

I will always miss her but Bosco is a wonderful pal. I’m grateful for him.

I shed a tear for GP, remembering my own two shepherds that I loved so much. Magnificent friends they truly are.

I just bought garlic scape pesto from Via Rosa the Italian deli on Bainbridge Island. They make it every year and it’s delicious.

I did not know about Via Rosa! I'll stop by the next time I'm on B.I. Thank you!

They are not inexpensive but make yummy food. Also, they are across from Bay Hay and Feed not in town. It’s also fun to visit the nursery and gift and pet food store there too. They have baby chicks right now. Made me wish we had chickens but we have too many raccoons. PS thanks for posting all the things that can be done with the scapes. I knew a couple of them but not all.
