# 307: It's 'Toon Day: Superman-The Bulleteers (1942)
A Saturday diversion plus a few other things today.
Superman-The Bulleteers (1942)
Not all heroes wear capes.
Things To Do 🇺🇦
Plant Sunflowers for Ukraine
Make Ukrainian Poppy Seed Cake 🇺🇦
from Moosewood Cookbook (1977), Molly Katzen
Make Ukrainian Borscht 🇺🇦
from The New York Times Cook Book (1990 Revised Edition), Craig Claiborne
And Jolene Handy of Time Travel Kitchen has a delicious borscht in her newsletter issue from three years ago too. 🇺🇦 Link below.👇
Make a Ukrainian Flag 🇺🇦
Take two pieces of craft paper or card stock; one blue (on top for the sky) and one yellow (the sunflowers in the field below). It cost me less than a dollar. Cut and tape together to make a flag. Put it in your window.
Support World Central Kitchen 🇺🇦
Here’s the link to help support their continued efforts in Ukraine.

Something You Can Do for Me
Please heart ❤️ this post and leave a comment, too. It not only lets me know that you are stopping by but it really helps my ratings on Substack, too.
And if your budget can handle a paid subscription it would help me a lot, too.
Indeed, not all heroes wear capes.
I wake today with shame at being an American. What a display.
Think I’ll make that poppy seed cake and write my Senators and Congressional Representatives.
And then be kind today🌻
Yay, Superman! Wonderful reminder for us all to find "Superman" in ourselves! Thanks for the post. I love World Central Kitchen and have been connected to them since they began providing food and supplies in Ukraine right after the Russian invasion. I also was just made aware of United24 which is the Official Fundraising site for Ukraine, so I donated there today. https://u24.gov.ua/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
It all helps!
