Thanks for this informative and interesting post Kate. My husband (the gardener) informs me that he has never had good luck growing garlic, so I enjoy getting ours through a CSA or farmers market. Thank you for including the Halloween post and recipe. So many delicious pie recipes and so little time! What pies will you be making for Thanksgiving? What will you make fellow readers? I'm still trying to decide.....🎃
Blue thingies are a great technique! I'm using old tarps, billboard wraps, black plastic sheeting from a haunted house, whatever, to prep a weedy old hay field no longer being harvested for replanting with natives.
I haven’t grown garlic for years but earlier this month I poked 100 seeds into the ground. It’s really just an experiment. Somehow most of my plantings feel like that.
That’s a good amount! As climate is changing, my garden plantings seem to be experiments each year in “will this still grow here” and “how about I try...”.

Delightful post.
Well, thank you!
Are you out of garlic now, or do you have enough to carry you through winter?! 🎃
Duncan has some still, but I am out with the planting.
Lovely post, Kate. And, Greta ❤️

I love garlic! Maybe I should put a few cloves in a pot on the front porch.
I've never grown it in a pot but would love to know how it does if you try it, Mel.
