As I prepare for a trip, here are my ten essentials for travel plus a recipe for Onion, Cheese & Butternut Squash Crustless Quiche that use up what is on hand before I go.
planning for traveling light as possible is 1/3 the fun of a trip. I call my trips a success if I used all I took, and had just enough. Have a great time
It makes me such a travel blogger cliche, but: I really love my zip-up packing cubes. I thought they were a tedious fad until I actually started using them. Now my socks and underwear and t-shirts and phone cables and e-readers and sunscreen and everything else *doesn't* churn merrily around in my rucksack enroute like they're in a washing machine so I have to sort the whole lot out at the other end, or rummage around for a while if I need a particular item - and unpacking at the other end can be done in around a minute flat. Six bags lifted out and I'm done. Absolute magic. Those youngsters are definitely onto something there....
You will love Brittany. A country within France with unique foods and customs. Be on the lookout for the various starched linen hats/caps , hand made and Worn by the women in different areas of Brittany. Their styles are distinct for different areas of Brittany. It’s windy there but the landscapes and seascapes are gorgeous. The seafood is phenomenal. Have a great time. Be safe. And take deep breaths for anxiety or awe.
Have a wonderful time on your latest walking adventure, Kate! I always make sure to have a book along with me while traveling for those off moments. Have you read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson? Another great walking adventure to read about.
Love the retrospective on the cabin and especially love Big Red and the comments about him! 😉 Living as we are right now, there's a bit more than 300 square feet, but not much, so I practice the every-space-holds-something adage. And thanks for the packing items. I always love those lists and I make them for myself every time I venture anywhere. I would add a headlamp, even though my phone has a flashlight. I love the headlamp and use one almost daily for something! It's the hands-free that I love 😄 Otherwise, I'm with you on your essential items. Absolutely underwear for each day ~ I know the 'didn't dry' issue too well!!! Have a fantastic time!✈️ 💗
My favorite items to take traveling are ebooks, a journal, and plenty of room for my favorite souvenirs (cookbooks!) enjoy your travels and be safe. See you soon :)
Have fun in France! Eat a baguette & some nice cheese with some wine.
A great plan and thank you, Debra!
Your trip sounds exciting, be safe, have fun.
Thanks, Sybil!
