Lessons in patience come in many ways. For National Peach Day enjoy a peach pie and news about our next paid subscribers Zoom Bake Session on September 13!
I love all things "Peach," especially pie. Kate, have you read THE EPITAPH FOR A PEACH, the story of the Matsumoto family farm in California by David Matsumoto? A wonderful book🍑❤️
Oh Kate, I absolutely love it when you talk about "this time around". Next time, I hope I can have an opportunity to know you in person.
I am going to try to make the Crostata session. 11am is about in the middle of my night when I go to bed at 6:30am and get up at 2:30pm. It will depend on how kind my aches and pains are to me when I get up.
I made a mixed berry pie Monday night and we are loving it. I cheated and used Aldi crusts. I really like them. They actually have lard in them and taste really good (to me, anyway)
Thank you for the lovely peach pie recipe! I put up some ripe peaches in the freezer. This will be lovely when the Florida winds blow at 72 degrees instead of 96. (grin)
Perfect timing, Kate, for getting me to put my order in for those delicious Cal Red peaches along with your fabulous recipes! I’ve been dreaming of a peach pie and a crostata or two for quite some time, so I am thrilled my order is on its way. BTW the Wells Fargo Wagon was a hoot! What musical did that come from?
I hope the peaches will still be around when we get back to Spain because I swear I’m going to make a peach pie. Patience is not one of my virtues either
Kate, I don't have many local peach growers near me---upstate NY--- and I seem to always pick the peaches that never ripen from the grocery store. They stay hard then turn to mush.... so any peach buying tips would be appreciated.
When choosing peaches there is no need to squeeze. Look for gold coming out from the stem. Avoid those with green coming out from the stem as they have been picked too soon. If two peaches are of the same size, always pick the heavier one as it will have more sugar and flavor. This is true for all fruits and vegetables. I hope this helps, Ellen.
Looking forward to the Zoom session and have it marked on my calendar! Thank you Kate... Mary Jane Curry
I’m looking forward to this one a lot!
You read my mind I can’t wait for the zoom!!
Yay! It will be great to have you there, Rachel!
Worth the wait, Kate! 🍑 That photograph of the 3 peaches has my mouth watering and then there’s the pie and crostata! So good! 🧡 🍑
Peach pie, in all forms, is my very favorite, Jolene!

Indeed I have and have met them on a few occasions, too, Pam!

I think we’ve probably been around a few times, Mel, and maybe some of them together. Hope to see you even if you’re in your jammies!

The tune is from The Music Man, the musical by Meredith Wilson.
I guess it’s just been too many years since I saw the Music Man. Thanks for the memories!
I remember so many of those songs…Marion the Librarian, 76 Trombones…

Oh I hope they are, too, Nancy! Sounds like there’s been some movement on that front?

Thank you very much Kate. I can't wait to look for peaches checking out the stem. ♥️
