Well now I’m blubbering over my cup of coffee. I’m so glad I had the chance to meet your special girl. You have both been on my mind all week. Here’s to the many years you had together and the memories that you will always keep. And to all the “good girls” and “good boys” that bless our lives. ❤️

What a remarkable friend she turned out to be!

And you were that to her, as well. May the sweet memories linger to comfort you…

They were both so beautiful, Lady and GP. Thank you so much for sharing their stories with us. Annie and Michael sound like angels on earth and they found you a miraculous girl. May you be inundated by happy memories to crowd out the ache of her physical absence; may she send you songs and signs and may you always see her in her sunny spot. As she was in this life, she will always be at your side. Much, much love. amg

I have lost pets over the years, and it is hard to deal with sometimes. My wife said I was always talking to them, but I don't know if they understood me, but they always listened. I only have the one stray cat that has been with me for a lot of years. We both enjoy napping in the afternoon.

Yep, you made me cry with your beautiful story of your life with Gretapie. And for you in your loss, as I know just what it is to walk around without a shadow beside you, and to arrive home to no sweet girl greeting you. My heart goes out to you.

What a heartfelt accounting of your life with GP, from first look to last. ❤️ I empathize with the hole left by a beloved dog's passing. I hope your loving memories will fill a tiny bit of the hole.

My heart aches for you, Kate. I hope those wonderful memories get you through the saddest of days like when I lost my Luke. She was so blessed to have the perfect dog mom. I embrace you with much love as always.

As stories involving dogs always do, yours made me cry. Just a couple of years ago, we said goodbye to our old dog Pepper in much the same way. I cannot recommend enough using someone who comes to your home and helps you make the good bye serene and peaceful for you and your dog. I am ever so grateful for that. We, too, were able to make her last few days the very best they could be. Thank you for sharing, Kate.

What a loyal and trusting friend she was. Gretapie, Best Girl for sure! When you got Greta, was that the name she had been given? ❤️

Kate - Thank you for sharing this beautiful and well written story of you and Gretapie... What a wonderul life you shared together. I am so glad that you found each other! I purchased the cookbook you wrote with the home cooking and stories recently and it arrived just 15 minutes before our visiting company pulled up in our driveway to spend a few days with us. I took a quick glimpse through the cookbook and read one stories origin of a recipe when our guests rang our doorbell. I look forward to reading Gretapie's story and enjoying trying my hand at some of your recipes. You are a treasure Kate. I am so glad that our paths have crossed recently and look forward to future chats and hopefully Pie Camp next year! My best to you and enjoy the rainbow Gretapie! Mary Jane
