Happy July, Kate! I’ve had the great good fortune to meet Erica Bauermeister. She is as lovely as her writing. Her latest novel — “No Two Persons” — is our 2025 Whatcom READS title, so I’m giddy knowing I’ll be promoting her work and spending a little time with her in the months ahead. It makes me really happy to think that two writers/people I admire are hoping to meet. Hopefully, over pie.

I'm putting No Two Persons on my list, too and how wonderful you will be able to spend time with Erica, Mary!

Thanks for your letter. It was a wonderful way to start what will be an exceedingly hot day. Definitely not a day to make pies. More like a day to eat popsicles.

AH - finding those special "finds" --- I have my Great Grandmother's oak table and chairs... or I DID for many years and now it resides with Beloveds in Sequim (who also have tended to my piano) -- much loved in every way and I always look forward to your book recommendations!! I'm so grateful for YOU!!!

Such a sweet recognition of your “family member” sofa, Kate…And, yes, certain furnishings DO become central players in our daily lives…Isn’t that lovely?

After reading this I feel tempted to take a nap on my sofa - my cranky calico, Scout, is already there sound asleep! Have a wonderful July 4th, Kate!

I love the sofa story. It looks fantastic and I'm so sorry I don't have room to adopt her! She speaks to me through the photos!! Have a wonderful 4th!

I love your sofa! And I need a new (old) one but I'm too far away. I hope whomever gives her a home will treat her with love and respect.

I made a strawberry lemonade freezer pie for the 4th. Very simple, but I did think of you. I got some wonderful Georgia peaches from a local farm (they brought them in from Georgia) and I want to make hand pies with some of them.

I made some springerles today. I'll get the hang of them yet! They do have feet this time! LOL!

Happy 4th of July! Remember our freedoms and what we still have to do to keep them.
