Kitchen therapy—I can definitely relate, Kate. And it is contagious. Now I want to bake something. With your hands in dough, the world’s problems—and your own—seem far away, at least for a moment. Thanks for a great post.
"With your hands in dough, the world’s problems—and your own—seem far away..." So true, Ruth.
I was up until 1AM writing and slept in a bit this morning before chores and errands. This afternoon and evening I'm volunteering at a local arts event so as much as I would like to bake today, unless I have a big burst of energy when I get home tonight, it will have to wait until tomorrow. But, I do have plans of what it will be!
Love Towle’s writing. Another book I will get to during the long slow summer. Right now it’s “Trust”. perhaps I will also complete the last eleven pie from Joy ‘43.
OK! I just put Trust on my to read list. Thank you very much!! Only eleven to go? That's quite amazing. Do you notice any difference or idiosyncrasies in baking from Joy '43? Any favs?
Just love the "No AI Zone"! It's becoming a bit... unsettling... anymore.
Wonderful memories of Rex and then Vince. I'm hoping that someday, we can all meet in that great big kitchen in the Summerlands and have pie and coffee (or tea!).
This is such an uplifting read, Kate! Rex and Vince, I love the story. For some reason, I did not receive the last three newsletters. I'm following up with Substack! ❤️

Busy girl! Would love to know what you’ll be making.
I'm working on a GF biscotti!
How sweet (emotionally and literally) to have been able to taste Vince’s pie!
Vince was so very kind to bring the last pie that his partner Rex made. Very sweet! ❤️
Sorry, Kate. I meant to say "Rex's pie."
😉

I'm glad you like it, Mel!
