#153: April Come She Will
A plethora of pink from Pie Cottage, book recommendations, and Kindness Calendar for the Month.
Before you get up this morning, be sure to say “Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit” for good luck all month long!
The Pink Season at Pie Cottage
As Paul Simon writes, April come she will. Sometimes she comes with sun; sometimes with clouds and rain. She’s here now and that means the pink season has begun at Pie Cottage! Neighbors, walkers, and cyclists tell me they look forward to the beautiful show each year. Over the years I’ve taken quite a few photos that show the beauty of this special time. Here are a few for you.

I love pink… and red, orange, yellow and green…and blue, indigo and violet, too. How beautiful the rainbows are that they make together!

What I’m Reading
Just Finished:
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
Somewhere I saw a recommendation for Gabrielle Zevin’s book, so I put it on reserve at my library. By no stretch of the imagination would I ever be considered a gamer. The only computer game I ever played was Myst way back in the mid-90s so when I read the jacket and saw that it was about those who create games, I wasn’t sure if I would like it. But, this book is about longing, loss, and love in many different forms and is most definitely worth the read.
Currently Reading:
The Big Burn by Tim Egan
I’ve been a fan of Tim Egan’s work for decades, so when one of my neighbor’s asked if I might be interested in reading The Big Burn, I immediately said Yes, please! I started it last night and can’t wait to get back to it tonight.
The story of the nation’s biggest wildfire – an apocalyptic blaze that burned an area the size of Connecticut in a weekend. No living person had ever seen a fire with the ferocity, speed, and destructive power of the Big Burn of 1910. Equally dramatic is the larger story of Teddy Roosevelt and Gifford Pinchot, and the creation myth of the U.S. Forest Service.
Next Up:
This is Happiness by Naill Williams
A loaner from another wonderful reading friend who says this one is slow paced and very beautiful. I’m looking forward to cuddling up with it.

Wonderful photos and my favorite singers! Thank you for sharing both.
I read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow last summer when it first came out. I think it was recommended by Port Books. I am not a gamer at all, but enjoyed learning about that development world. I impressed my niece’s friend (who is a game developer) at our family picnic when I asked him some questions that I had from reading the story. He was blown away that this “old lady” knew some of the lingo.😁 Kate, your pictures of your pink world are beautiful and give me hope for spring!
