My husband was a Captain on Washington State Ferries until he retired several years ago. Port Townsend was one of his favorite runs, but could be challenging in rough weather. I showed him your story and he got a bit of a chuckle remembering those ferry scheduling challenges. Glad your option 2 worked and you and Gretapie are safe at home.
It must have felt like quite a victory to finally make it home without further incident. Hooray! It's wonderful that Greta was well enough to accompany you!

This happened one other time when I was coming back from Whidbey. The run was shut down when there was a bomb threat on the PT side.

Hooray indeed! She was a little stiff when we arrived home and creaky this morning, but after a walk she seems to be doing ok.
Sometimes we're better off with adventures close to home. Glad you made it back safely.
