#138: You're Invited for Tea for Two
Our First Monthly Tea on February 14th
Last week, I sent out a poll to paid subscribers to find out if there might be interest in having a virtual monthly tea. Well, the votes are in and the winner is a weekday at 9AMPacific/12PMEastern. So here we go!
Tea for Two
Tea for Two will be a special once a month virtual event for paid subscribers only. Each month you’ll receive two different tea time recipes and the link to gather for an hour to chat, share photos of our tables and bakes, and have a bit of fun all over a spot of tea. And, if coffee is your thing, you are invited, too. Our first virtual tea time will be on Valentine’s Day and your official invitation is below.
You are invited for
Tea for Two

We’ll be meeting this first time via Substack Chat and if you are a paid subscriber you will receive a notification when Tea for Two goes live.
If the app it isn’t on your phone yet, you can download it below.
Beauty Brings a Smile
I’ll be setting out a few favorite tea things that day—a favorite tea cup and saucer, a pretty china plate, a sterling silver fork, knife, and spoon, a serviette (a fancy name for a napkin), a tea pot and tea cozy…and yes, mugs are just fine, too!
Our first tea bake will feature recipes for Scones and Madeira Cake. (Recipes will be coming to paid subscribers later this week.) It is just fine if you would like to make something different and there is no obligation to bake at all. Maybe now is the time to pick up that package of shortbread or tea biscuits you have been eyeing at the grocers.
“Taking tea is about making time instead of grabbing it, and about genuinely relaxing instead of simply giving lip service to the idea.”

Let’s start off with How to Make a Pot of Tea from the 1918 edition of the Fannie Farmer Cookbook.
How to Make a Pot of Tea
3 teaspoons tea
2 cups boiling water
Scald an earthen or china teapot. Put in tea, and pour on boiling water. Let stand on back of range or in a warm place five minutes. Strain and serve immediately, with or without sugar and milk. Avoid a second steeping of leaves with addition of a few fresh ones. If this is done, so large an amount of tannin is extracted that various ills are apt to follow.

I hope to see you there!
It's a little early for me but I'll make the effort to be there. I love a cup of tea, a pastry and some companionship!
You betcha!
