One of the gals at Swain’s had me buy a package that has 2 little plastic red apples, which you open up and place some ‘special liquid’. It worked like a charm! There’s some liquid left if you want to give it a whirl, Kate.
Good luck with the fruit flies; I had them once when I lived in Chicago and it was awful. The apple cider vinegar trick luckily worked for me at the time. Here’s hoping that the traps come through for you!
I think you lent A Gentlemen in Moscow to me! And I think I in turn lent it to someone else, or maybe it’s still on my shelf in NJ. So sorry! But I loved the book and also can’t wait for the movie to come out with Ewan McGregor. Can’t wait to see you!
I didn't realize it was being made into a movie. How wonderful, though I have to say that Ewan McGregor is not how I envisioned Count Rostov. That photo on the cover of the book looks so much like David Suchet (Poirot) to me. I know to many, Suchet's Poirot is an insufferable little man, mincing when he walks and bloviating when he talks, but I think he's wonderful, and the actor, in his own garb, in his own accent is very attractive to me. He has the kindest eyes.
I read it twice in fairly rapid succession and definitely appreciated details I had missed in the initial reading. Amazing book. When I handed it over to my husband, I told him "Read slowly and carefully!"
I can't wait to see what your in-person offerings are for pie classes!

This is similar and seems to be better now on day 4. From Swain’s, also.
Happy birthday to your books! 🎉

Well, it’s been 24 hours and they’re still here.
And thank you from my three books!
Congratulations, Kate. Your three cookbookbabies are wonderful, and you deserve all the many accolades I've heard and seen.
Julie, you are so sweet to say so...and I am so appreciative of your comments and others who are here in our little corner of Substack.
Ohhhh! John McCutcheon! What a sweet memory from days long gone. Thank you for bringing back to me!
I heard him play at least once, maybe more. I still love his mellow vibe and the smile in his voice.

I hope Ewan has a good mustache for this.
I may have even said to you..."pass it on." 😉 I'm starting to lay out a few things to pack.
I have both pie books and when not baking with them will take them down and just browse through them. So wonderful and comforting.
This makes my heart sing Jean!
And is there another book inside you, Kate? Itching to come out? Your books are all well used in my kitchen:
I appreciate so much you asking. I plan on continuing to write here as long as there is interest.
I have a question....I live in the same town as you, where do you buy your mulch?
And...I look forward to every posting, thanks!
And thank you!

Art of the Pie & Home Cooking are two indispensable cookbooks for me. Just gave my sister Art of the Pie for her birthday. Spreading the wealth!
Thank you Susan! This means a lot to me and Happy Birthday to your sister!
Loved A Gentleman in Moscow!
I think it might be better the second time as I'm enjoying all the nuances.

The Lincoln Highway is also very very good.
Yes, I enjoyed The Lincoln Highway too. A real page turner.
Loved that one as well. Also on my list is Rules of Civility.
I can see how that would be.
Oh wow! Thank you!
