I had heard a choral arrangement of Whiteacre’s setting but when I was searching for it to include here I found the breathtaking solo version. I didn’t know of Hila Pittman before either.
I am so glad you found that phone - my stomach was starting to do flip-flops as it does when it dawns on me that I have truly lost something important. My husband and I, being of a certain age, have begun to try to do something about our losing everyday things. We went through a point where one of us was ill, but we couldn't find the thermometer (not the end of the world, but annoying - who wants to go out at 10 pm in the rain to find a decent thermometer?) We turned the house upside down - finally one of us remembered where we last used it, and there it was, waiting for us. After that, we decided we needed to do better. If you ever visit us, you'll find in every drawer and every cabinet in the whole house a little note that says "Thermometer in the downstairs medicine cabinet." It was the first place we'd looked. So we decided that when we lose something (and finally find it) its permanent storage area will be the first place we looked. This is working somewhat well, though sometimes we find that the first place we looked was not because of a strong probability that it will be there, but rather, it was the closest spot where it "might" be - so we are still trying to fine-tune the process.
What an adventure to find your phone! I also loved the photo of Greta Pie sitting in a chair and looking out the window. It took me way back to when I was a very little girl and one of our dogs, Princess, a German pointer, would sit in a kitchen chair by the window and look out into the yard. As a treat, both I and Princess were given something special - we each received a cup of milk with just a tiny drop of coffee in it. I felt very sophisticated, but I cannot speak for what Princess might have thought!
Thank you so much for sharing Goodnight Moon! Such a treasure to cross my path, and truly a gift for starting my day, along with the photo of GP keeping an eye out the window while watching over you. Thanks, Kate!
I would have read this sooner but I couldn’t find my phone🤪 💗💗

Too funny, Laura!
I can identify!!! Always missing one or the other.
I loved "Goodnight Moon"....the story- the music absolutely beautiful.
Thank you for introducing me to Hila Plitman, and Eric Whiteacre...what talent. You made my morning with your post and this beautiful music.

I find that consistency works best even when someone else cannot understand why my measuring tape is on the bookshelf. 😉
That's the first place I look! :D

I bet Princess loved anything with you near!
I LOVE the way you write dearest Kate, and thankyou for Goodnight Moon!

So many small treasures and blessings in our lives. Yes?
Yes, indeed :-)
"Alexa" can find my phone, but not my glasses.
