I have the same model! But lucky me, I have three work bowls. (I used to work for Cuisinart!) The newest one has a crack now in the bottom. I can’t figure out whether I can glue it or not but currently I’m using an older work bowl that has no cracks.Mine is 38 years old, and I make bread in it every week or two. I am dreading the thought of the motor stopping. But then, maybe it won’t!
I’m a bit late joining the discussion, but sure do appreciate the helpful comments! I discovered that the skinny plastic link on the lid, which starts the motor, finally broke off the other day, so I need to hunt for it in my cabinet & hope super glue will fix it. I’ve got some pink duct tape you can use Kate, which should look good with the red cord, if you want to give it a try :-)
Like others I have the same model and it is still going strong. Admittedly there are a few cracks and chips but I won't complain. The current models just aren't the same.
Kate I am so sorry about the big crack in your bowl. I might try some epoxy glue. However I don't know what the effect of acid ingredients might have on the epoxy. Good luck. I am sorry for your potential loss.
My husband-to-be gave me my first Cuisinart in 1979! It worked great for 30 years (with a couple of replacement bowls until I could no longer find replacement bowls). Due to the gracious offer from a friend who worked part-time at WS, I got a Magimix which is made by Robocoupe (the makers of the first Cuisinarts). It has been going strong for eight years!
I’m pretty sure my mom has that exact same model! I remember using it when I would help her chop chipped beef for the cheese ball she made for Christmas every year.
I don’t have any tricks for fixing your bowl, but I wanted to say that I share your love of vintage kitchen appliances. We have a Thermomix from the 70’s that is a staple in our kitchen. You have to twist the knob a certain way to make sure it doesn’t stall, and I’m just waiting for it to finally break. When it does, we’ll most likely look for the same model second-hand again, though. The new ones have too many features that we wouldn’t use; this one is just right!
Kate, we have a dental glue and curing system that my husband says likely would repair the crack. Drop it by Port Ludlow on your way east and he will have a go at it.
this happened to me. There's eBay, Facebook marketplace or maybe a local Buy Nothing club will have somebody who has this old model and doesn't want it anymore.
I have the sam one. I have glued the bowl and it works just fine. I leaking. Just yesterday a piece broke off the bottom. I was going to glue it back on but it still locks in place without the piece. My shredding blade broke and replacements are not available. I also have a newer model (cuisinart).
Check out Bondic. It is not just glue. Great tool for repairing plastic things. It was invented by a dentist and uses similar technology to a process used in dentistry. Beverly G.
Kate, I believe I have the same model, given to me by my husband long before we married. Cuisinart will replace the bowl for you. I recently broke mine and for $30 received a new bowl, lid with the feed tube and a new flat lid with no feed tube. They didn't even have those when Rodg bought mine. Call them, they were super helpful.
I have the same model which was given to me as a bridal shower gift in 1980. I still love it and like you when my bowl broke a number of years back I was very upset. However, I was able to find a replacement. This was before the internet so I am sure you will be able to find one as well!

I think the motors in these oldies will outlive us all, June!
My dear friend Greg Patent also worked for Cuisinart!

Send the bowl to CuisinArt with this missive and treats. 💖💖💖

That’s a super long time! So impressed it held up. I don’t have any ideas about repurposing it other than maybe using it to let dough rise?
Hi , Kate
Same processor, but different experience.
The motor on mine burned out making almond butter.
Replaced it with a magimix. Cuisinart is still the beloved model

Hello Kate!

Thank you for your wonderful articles!🌼
Ok. I see that it is a DLC-7! Bowl should be available on line! Happy hunting!
