I want all the brew from the Moka pot. This means that I get up early to make and drink it when there are visitors [yes, some are coming this week*] so as not to feel guilty. In the summer I go to the deck to drink it. I am accompanied by my dog, my cat, my sunhat, and my current read. Sometimes in the winter, if it’s not raining or snowing, I wrap up in a fleece jacket, and wooly hat and blanket.
Today, my read is How to Feed a Dictator Through the Eyes of Their Cooks. It is recommended to me by an author whose writing I love. I order it up from my local bookstore. It takes a week to show up. It’s worth the wait.
When I finish tonight, I’ll have learned about the culinary preferences of Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Enver Hoxha, Fidel Castro, and Pol Pot…and how their chefs feared for their lives if their cooking wasn’t pleasing.
I go to the kitchen to bake. However it turns out, I’ll be fine.
