# 204 : It Begins with a Song
It's not every day that someone writes a song for you.
Hearthside
It’s dark when I open my eyes this morning. I hear the sighs of GP and the click of her nails as she pads over to the side of my bed. I reach out my hand and give her our first scritch-scratches of the day and feel her burrow her head into my hand. It’s time to get up and start the day.
I open my bedroom door and see crimson light streaming from the east under the clouds. I hear windchime music and feel brisk air on my face as I open the backdoor to let her outside. The words “Red sky at morning, sailors take warning” come to mind. Time to kindle the fire in the woodstove and set the kettle on for tea.
I quickly scroll through some emails to see if there is anything that needs immediate attention and then head over to Substack to see who has posted what while I was asleep…and then I see it.
A song. A song composed for me. It’s peaceful and calm…like my mornings here. May I share it with you?
A writer’s life is a solitary one. Please leave a comment or click on the little heart below to let me know you were here. It means a lot to me.
Hi Kate, When do you expect to have your Bake With Kate schedule for 2024 posted?
Just listened to Hearthside. How lovely!
