#100: Wheels: Four, Two, and One
Memories of cars and bikes and skates
I’m loving Arrow, my new bike. On a ride out to the Elwah River and back, I started remembering other wheels in my life. Here are some of the early ones.
I was absolutely mortified when I was taken to school in one of my dad’s two 1950s era Cadillac Fleetwood limos. My schoolmates teased about the car and called me rich, which we weren’t, but dad had to have the fancy cars for his funeral home and would go into great debt when new ones were needed every ten years or so. I would plead, “Can’t you just drop me off a block away so I can walk, pleeeeze?” The answer was always, “No.” I can only imagine what my schoolmates would have said if I was driven to school in the hearse!
